Everything about the Wedding Car
On your big day, a wedding car is an absolute must. Renting a wedding car is a great addition to your wedding, but how do you choose your dream car, and what should you consider?
Why Rent a Wedding Car?
A wedding car is not only practical for transporting you to the venue but also looks fantastic in the wedding photos and creates a grand entrance. Therefore, it’s important to choose a car that fits well with your style, theme, and budget.
What Should You Pay Attention To?
Renting a wedding car is, of course, not mandatory. Stay true to yourselves. If both of you enjoy cycling and don’t feel comfortable in a rented car, you could even ride bikes!
It’s essential to hire a professional company for your wedding transport. They are experienced and know how to plan their services, so you won’t need to worry about that. If you rent the car without a driver, that is also possible.
You don’t want to feel rushed, so consider any potential delays. Calculate the travel time in advance and add an extra 20 minutes to ensure you arrive on time throughout the day.
Costs of the Wedding Car
The cost of renting a wedding car depends on many factors. For example, do you want to rent the car with or without a driver? Will you rent it for just a few hours or for the whole day? You can also choose what type of car you want to rent and how you want it decorated.
Driving Yourself
You can choose to drive the wedding car yourself, which usually costs between €350 and €500. However, keep in mind that you won’t be able to drink and it could be stressful. A driver will pick you up at any location, so you won’t have to walk to the car.
Car with Driver
Renting a wedding car with a driver costs between €200 and €400 for 4 hours. So, you’ll pay between €50 and €100 per hour for the rental. Be aware that the time typically starts as soon as the driver leaves the rental company. You might pay €40 to €100 per hour, depending on the type of car you rent.
Limousine
Renting a limousine for your wedding costs around €500 for four hours. A limousine is quite expensive, but it provides a fabulous entrance, and it can fit six to eight people, or possibly more than ten. This way, you can also bring along your parents, witnesses, and bridesmaids. A limousine always comes with a driver.
Cans Behind the Wedding Car
In the past, cans were often tied to the back of the wedding carriage. These cans were meant to protect the newlyweds from evil spirits that might try to block their happiness. The evil spirits were frightened away by the sound of the clanging cans. This is how the tradition was born.
Wedding Procession
A wedding procession is the order in which the cars drive to the venue. You will drive with your guests to the location. The order of the wedding procession is not mandatory but traditionally looks like this:
In the first car, the bride and groom ride together. The bride sits on the left of the groom; after the wedding ceremony, this is reversed. If you have flower girls or page boys, they will also sit in this car. Depending on the number of people, the bridesmaids and groomsmen can also ride in this car. If there is not enough space, they can ride in the car behind the bride and groom. In the second car, the parents of the bride and groom will sit. The bride’s father will drive, with the groom’s mother beside him. On the right side in the back will be the bride’s mother, and on the left side in the back, the groom’s father. The third car will have the witnesses and their partners. The fourth car will contain the bride and groom’s siblings and grandparents. The order of the remaining cars does not matter. The wedding coordinator leaves last, to ensure everyone else has left. When everyone arrives at the venue, the bride and groom will wait until everyone has gotten out of the car, and then they will exit last. The groom will be the first to get out of the wedding car, followed by the bride.
