Snappshot on entrepreneurship, perseverance, and growth: “One idea works, the other doesn’t.”
In 2014, Marc and his brother Arno were having a drink at De Twee Wezen. Marc had a commercial job, and Arno worked as an app and web developer. They got talking with an acquaintance who was about to get married. She had just one task left on her list: buying disposable cameras. Marc thought, “Nice idea, but a bit outdated, isn’t it, a disposable camera?” At that moment, his eye caught a screen showing photos from the nearby club/disco, Rootie-Tootie. His next thought was, “How cool would it be if you could show photos taken by your own guests on that screen in real-time?” Our minds started racing, and we immediately Googled if such a thing already existed.
It’s a historical fact that brothers are capable of big inventions. Auguste and Louis Lumière invented the film projector, the Wright brothers flew the first airplane, and the Bor brothers invented Snappshot.
The idea started on a beer coaster – not a metaphor, but the truth.
And?
“Yes, something similar existed, but it was only for weddings. We thought bigger, saw an opportunity, and came up with a concept: guests can share photos via an app, which are then shown in real-time on a screen. We pitched the idea to others, but nearly everyone thought it was a bad idea. ‘You’re not going to give up your stable job for this, are you?’ they said. But their reactions only made us more enthusiastic. So we had a prototype built. Now we had a product but no party to test it at. Fortunately, Arno’s father-in-law turned fifty, and that became our test case. A good one too, because everything that could go wrong, did. Arno then started making adjustments, and we were ready for our first commercial event.”

After selecting the Snappshot Package that fits your event, you’ll receive login details for MySnappshot. MySnappshot is our online platform where all the magic happens. You can access MySnappshot through most browsers (my.snappshot.party). In MySnappshot, you can fully customize your Snappshot experience. From live screen settings to personalisation and photo downloads – it’s all there (and more).
If you want to use the live screen, we recommend using an extra-large display so everyone can clearly see the photos they’ve uploaded. Simply connect a laptop or computer to the screen via cable, or wirelessly via Chromecast or Apple TV. The only software you need is a browser (maybe the one you’re using now) and an internet connection capable of playing a YouTube video.

Of course, there was a photographer, but this adds to the fun. The app works well, and handing out flyers with QR codes makes it easier to share photos. Go for it!
The best experience I've personally had was using the photo app in the stadium. The selfie I took of my son and myself was instantly displayed on the screen. A memory he'll cherish forever, fantastic! 😎
